Business address and virtual office
If your company uses the facilities of a multi-company building such as Business Centre, you may only list the address as your visiting address in the trade register if you permanently rent space there. What are the rules for a virtual office, and how do you arrange it properly?
The rules
Business address as a virtual office
When you register your company with the Chamber of Commerce, one or more branches of your company are registered as well. If you choose a business address at Business Centre, the Chamber registers the postal address and the visiting address. An address can only be registered as a visiting address if the Chamber can sufficiently establish that your branch is really located at Business Centre. It does so by means of the lease.
Rules for a virtual office
If the lease shows that you permanently rent office space or a desk at the address, you may register it as your visiting address in the trade register. This does not mean that you always have to be present in your virtual office, but that you have the possibility to be present permanently. If you rent a desk or office for, say, two hours a week, you do not meet the requirement and the Chamber will not register it as a visiting address.
The same applies to renting so-called virtual office space. In those cases your home address is registered as the visiting address. You may use the address of the multi-company building as your correspondence address. The Chamber regularly checks whether companies comply with these standards.
